Dog Haus is heading south of the border.

The California-based restaurant chain known for gourmet hot dogs, sausages and burgers announced Thursday it will expand into Mexico for the first time in company history. In a partnership with HAK Capital & Brand Management, the brand plans to open at least 20 locations across Mexico over the next several years.

The international expansion begins this summer with a flagship debut in Mérida, Yucatán. The timing is intended to capitalize on global soccer fever as North America prepares to host major international tournaments.

"Expanding into Mexico marks a major milestone for Dog Haus as we take the brand into a new country for the first time," Dog Haus CEO Michael Montagano said in a company press release.

Following the Mérida opening, the company plans to target major economic and tourism hubs, including Mexico City, Tijuana, Monterrey and the Riviera Maya.

HAK Capital & Brand Management, led by CEO Hiram Alarid, will oversee the expansion. Alarid, who has a background in private equity and Mexico's food and beverage sector, said his firm was drawn to the brand's "disruptive personality" and product quality.

"From the moment we discovered Dog Haus, we knew it was a brand Mexico needed to experience," Alarid said in the release.

Founded in 2010 by Hagop Giragossian, Quasim Riaz and André Vener, Dog Haus has grown from a single Pasadena storefront to more than 50 U.S. locations. The brand gained additional mainstream attention in 2024 when it added YouTuber and boxer Jake Paul as a franchisee and board member.
