Dog Haus is overhauling its franchise model to give front-line operators a larger role in ownership, leadership and decision-making.
The shift attempts to address a longstanding industry challenge: the disconnect between franchisors and operators.
"Franchising has operated with a built-in disconnect for decades," CEO Michael Montagano said in a press release. "We're not just evolving the model — we're rewriting it."
The structure introduces shared leadership and equity opportunities, including senior leadership roles for top operators, a national area director program and operator representation at the board level.
Additionally, the area director program will select 15 high-performing operators to help guide regional growth and participate in investment opportunities. These operators will have a hand in strategy and execution, reflecting a more collaborative, performance-driven system.
Based in Pasadena, California, Dog Haus operates 50 locations nationwide.
