Farm-to-counter fast casual brand, Dig, is piloting a reusable bowl program at a New York City location. The Canteen by Dig lets customers checkout the bowl for a $3 monthly fee to take the food out, then return the bowl when it's empty, according to a Forbes report.
Dig, which also has locations in Boston, Philadelphia and Cambridge, is testing the program at its Noho restaurant at 691 Broadway. The idea came from customer insight on the aspect of reusable utensils and bowls for take-out orders, the brand told Forbes.
The program will be expanded to more drop-off locations and restaurants, including Dig's latest store, Dig East Village, which opens this month.
