Creator of The Mixx to debut new concept in Kansas City
The owner of Kansas City-based The Mixx is opening another fast casual brand, Caffetteria.
Jo Marie Scaglia will debut the concept later this year in the former Bruce Smith Drugs space in the Prairie Village Shopping Center at 71st and Mission Road in Kansas. The 4,000-square-foot space will seat around 100 guests inside and include a patio with outdoor seating, according to a press release.
Scaglia is designing it as a hybrid concept blending a high-end food philosophy with a quick-casual approach to service. The restaurant will feature an open kitchen with a colorful, eclectic environment to complement the nourishing, made-from-scratch food, she said.
"It is important to me to make people feel like they are at home at Caffetteria," Scaglia said in the release. "We cook everything with love and want to make each dish approachable for our guests."
Guests will order at the counter, and employees will deliver it to their tables. Caffetteria will also have a marketplace with prepared meals, specialty foods and exclusive retail products. Keeping in line with her passion for locally sourced products, Scaglia will partner with local companies for fresh produce and products, according to the release.
Scaglia founded The Mixx in 2005 in Kansas City; it now has three locations.
