California Tortilla intros election dishes
October 13, 2008
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Fresh-Mex chain California Tortilla is offering a pair of politically-themed dishes in conjunction with the presidential election. The restaurant has rolled out the McCain-Chilada and the O-Chili-Bama Burrito and will tally the number of each ordered and post the results on a weekly basis.
The McCain-Chilada Burrito includes Mexican rice, mesquite chicken, tortilla strips, queso, fresh salsa and shredded lettuce rolled in a flour tortilla, smothered with green enchilada sauce and garnished with sour cream and cilantro.
The O-Chili-Bama Burrito features Mexican rice, turkey chili, tortilla strips, jalapeno peppers, fresh salsa and shredded lettuce in a flour tortilla, covered with queso and garnished with cilantro and green onions.
While the burritos will be available on the menu through the end of the year, the election "counting" runs through Nov. 3. On that day, California Tortilla will announce which burrito was ordered more by its customers across the chain and declare that respective candidate the winner.
