A portion of the sales from Boloco’s Islanderlimited-edition smoothie will be contributed to a program that allows low-income children and their families to visit the Boston Harbor Islands.
Twenty-five cents from the purchase of every Islander smoothie sold at all 17 Boloco locations will be donated to the Island Pass Program, an initiative from the Boston Harbor Island Alliance that brought more than 14,000 individuals from community centers, summer camps and nonprofits to the Georges and Spectacle islands last year. This year, the alliance is aiming to bring 15,000 people to the dark tunnels of Fort Warren and the lighthouse at Little Brewster Island, in addition to other activities.
Boloco will sell the limited-time Islander throughout July. The smoothie is made from a blend of non-fat vanilla yogurt, banana, mango, mango juice and shredded coconut.
