Blaze Pizza has introduced its first "shareable" side item in the form of traditional breadsticks with a bit of a twist, called Dough Knots, a news release said.
The menu addition features hand-stretched dough filled with mozzarella, garlic and pesto and baked to order, served with red sauce.
Executive Chef Bradford Kent said the item comes in response to fans' love of Blaze Pizza's crust.
"So, we wanted to serve up our made-from-scratch dough in another delectable way, by putting our Blaze spin on it - literally," Kent said in the release. "The result is a shareable product that perfectly complements our pizzas and salads and is already a fan favorite."
The knots are priced at two for $1.95 or four for $2.95 for four, but Blaze is giving away more than 2 million Dough Knots to members of its loyalty program. Each member will receive a reward for two free Dough Knots with any pizza purchase.
Guests can also win free Dough Knots for a year between July 9 and 15 on social media. Fans enter the contest by posting photos with the new item and a special hashtag and tag. The fan with the most retweets wins a year's worth of the doughy sides, while second and third prize winners net Dough Knots for a month.
