Birdcall plans to expand into the Midwest with a goal of opening 100 franchised restaurants across six states over the next five years.
The Denver-based fast-casual chicken chain is seeking experienced operators to develop restaurants in Indiana, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio and Wisconsin. Ohio will present the largest opportunity, with plans for up to 30 locations, followed by Missouri with up to 18 units. The company inked its first franchise agreement in August 2025 for five restaurants in the Boise, Idaho, area. It currently operates 17 locations across Arizona, Colorado and Texas, with nearly 20 more in various stages of development.
Birdcall's restaurants average 2,300 square feet and seat 125 to 150 guests indoors and outdoors. The brand is primarily targeting freestanding locations but is also considering end-cap spaces with drive-thrus and nontraditional venues, including airports, colleges, hospitals, amusement parks and sports and entertainment venues. The company said its restaurants generate an average unit volume of $2.3 million. The initial investment starts at $762,000, including a $50,000 franchise fee.
"We've seen tremendous interest in Birdcall from prospective franchisees who are looking for a differentiated concept with strong unit economics, broad consumer appeal and significant room for growth," Justin Livingston, vice president of franchise development, said in a press release. "The Midwest presents an exceptional opportunity because many of these markets remain untapped for our brand."
