Bareburger names chef for all-vegan concept

Bareburger has found a chef for the all-vegan restaurant it's launching this year in New York City. 

Chef Vegicano (Rudy Ramos), a former musician by trade and a vegan for more 14 years, got his start cooking vegan food with Food Not Bombs, an organization that recovers food that would have been discarded and shares it as a way of protesting war and poverty, and writing about all things vegan for the blog, Supervegan, according to a company press release.

He is self-taught and is most known for being a part of various pop-ups throughout New York City. 

"Taste defeats tradition any day of the week," Ramos said. "I approach vegan food with no rules, utilizing flavors from all around the world to make delicious eats. I'm excited to be working with Bareburger, they've literally given me the reins to come up with something truly exciting. What's cool is that I've been eating vegan options at Bareburger for years, now I'm creating a restaurant with them."

Founded in 2009 in a vacant bakery in Astoria, New York, Bareburger has grown to 47 locations in four countries.
