Pei Wei now accepts Apple Pay in all of its nearly 200 locations for customers using iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus and Apple Watch, according to a company press release.
"Accepting Apple Pay is a win for Pei Wei because it’s convenient and gives our guests the flexibility to use their preferred method of payment," said Pei Wei CEO Ralph Bower. "It allows us to safely and quickly process transactions, increasing both customer service and restaurant efficiency. This is just one way we’re implementing the latest technology to improve the dining experience."
Pei Wei launched Apple Pay acceptance as a pilot in its 16 Phoenix area restaurants in July, and the POS technology became available this week at all of Pei Wei registers nationwide. This follows the company's large technology investment in the implementation of new payment terminals, pin pad devices and point-to-point encryption, Bower said.
Security and privacy are at the core of Apple Pay, according to the release. When a credit or debit card is added to Apple Pay, the actual card numbers are not stored on the mobile device nor on Apple servers. Instead, a unique device account number is assigned, encrypted and securely stored in the secure element on the device. Each transaction is authorized with a one-time unique dynamic security code to protect a user's’ information.
