USA Today names Smallcakes as Top 10 cupcakery

Beautiful Brands International has announced its franchise brand, Smallcakes A Cupcakery, has been selected in USA Todays Top 10 Places to Bite into a Gourmet Cupcake. BBI has an agreement with Smallcakes owners Jeff and Brandy Martin to grow, develop, and franchise Smallcakes A Cupcakery.

In the last 12 months, BBI has established 30 Smallcakes A Cupcakery developments along with six corporate and 9 franchised stores open.

The article, from the April 13 issue of USA Today, interviews Justin Willman, well-known host of Food Network's Cupcake Wars and Cupcake Champions. In it, he lists his top 10 picks for truly gourmet tasting cupcakes from bakeries all over the country. Smallcakes was only one of two bakeries from the Midwest to make the list.

“People just love eating cupcakes and who can blame them,” said Jeff Martin. “There’s a certain nostalgia in it, and people love the pure bliss of devouring a creamy, gourmet cupcake. What a great honor it is to be talked about nationally.”

Founded in Kansas City in 2008, Smallcakes A Cupcakery bakes 15 kinds of gourmet cupcakes each day, each freshly topped with swirls of velvety icing in traditional and modern flavors. The price point per cupcake is $2.89 or $28 per dozen. The unique cupcakes have been featured on TV shows such as the View and Cupcake Wars on the Food Network.
