Gluten-free options now available at 9 percent of restaurants

New research from Food Genius finds a growing number of healthier menu options and more concepts touting a health-halo menu. Food Genius' report, "Health and the Health Halo: Menu Trends and Insights," analyzes terms, attributes and language used on menus across the country.
Some insights from the report include:
- The term "gluten-free" has grown 5 percentage points in the past 12 months and can now be found at 9 percent of locations.
- The average price of a menu item containing the term "organic" is $9.41.
- When the term "low fat" is combined with a preparation method in a menu description, the top prep method is "grilled."
