Sue Petersen, vice president of human resources at Noodles & Company, has spent her entire career in the restaurant industry. During the October Fast Casual Executive Summit in Austin, she discussed what's she's learned during her tenure regarding hiring, training and retaining workers, as well as how engaging them is key to improving the customer experience.

"Certainly, meeting the needs of our guests is so important, but in order to do that we have to be meeting the needs of our teams," she said during the interview with Tim Tang of Hughes. "The guest experience is never going to exceed the team member experience."
