Zoup to double franchises in '09

Detroit Free Press: Zoup Fresh Soup Co. CEO and co-founder Eric Ersher said the company awarded 29 franchises in 2008 and many are opening this year. That will extend the brand to Connecticut, New Jersey and Indiana.
While the recession has pinched a number of restaurants, Ersher says sales rose 7 percent last year to $9.1 million after increasing 25 percent a year for the previous two years. Zoup will celebrate its 10-year anniversary in 2009.
