Zoës Kitchen: Will run for food

There are plenty of energy bars, shakes and supplements on the market today but not a lot of choices at fast food restaurants. Zoës Kitchen hopes to fix that with its new running menu, featuring lean proteins, complex carbs and fiber to give runners the energy they need to complete their runs, according to a company press release.

They include:

Pre-run meals— To properly prepare for a run, meals should be reasonably low in both fat and fiber so it's easily digestible. To meet this need, the chain created the Lean Turkey Pita with Pasta Salad with sliced turkey breast and slaw tucked into a light pita.

Post-run meals — The avid runner knows that to make the most of your workout, you need to replenish your body after a rigorous run. They can reload with Zoës Protein Power Plate, made up of flat-grilled chicken, caramelized onions and slaw or the Grilled Chicken Dinner, featuring charbroiled meat, braised white beans and roasted fresh veggies.

On-the-go snacks — Zoës Kitchen is making access to runner ready, smart snacking solutions easy. With fresh and wholesome favorites like Hummus & Pita or Seasonal Fresh Fruit, these light sides are the perfect way to give the body that extra energy boost, according to the company.
