Veggie Grill, a West Coast fast casual chain that serves only plant-based food, opened this week in Encino, Calif., at 16542 Ventura Blvd. The 3,000-square-foot unit marks the 18th Veggie Grill restaurant, nine of which are located in Los Angeles County.
"Southern California diners have welcomed Veggie Grill from day one, and we're thrilled to open in Encino, making it easier for our loyal guests to enjoy great-tasting, good-for-you food," said Greg Dollarhyde, chief energizing officer. "As Veggie Grill continues to expand, we've been especially excited to be a part of the growing demand for plant-based options as an everyday meal choice."
Voted "Best American Restaurant" in the Los Angeles Times 2012 Readers' Choice Awards, Veggie Grill puts a new twist on familiar classics, Dollarhyde said. The menu offers a full range of soups, salads, burgers, hot sandwiches, homestyle plates, desserts and organic teas, all made fresh to order. Everything is plant-based and free of animal fat, dairy, eggs, cholesterol, transfats and high-fructose corn syrup. Veggie Grill's Chickin' and Veggie-Steak are specially seasoned and marinated veggie proteins made with soy, wheat and pea protein.
"The Veggie Grill concept and culinary philosophy are simple," said Dollarhyde. "We serve delicious and approachable plant-based food in a friendly and convenient setting. People who try our food for the first time are always surprised to discover they don't have to sacrifice any of their favorite flavors."
