uWink: a new FC concept in L.A.

February 1, 2006

uWink announced the opening of a new Los Angeles restaurant with at-the-table touchscreens, which customers will use for ordering food. uWink will offer bistro fare, including pizza, seafood, burgers, salads, appetizers and shareable desserts.

According to a news release, food is ordered at the table via the uWink touchscreen and served by runners. Games and media also can be accessed via the uWink touchscreens, making it easy for people to interact, have fun and enjoy a delicious meal at a reasonable price.

"For almost a year, we have been searching for the right location for our initial uWink Bistro," said Nolan Bushnell, chief executive officer of uWink. "We are thrilled that we have finally found this site: the demographics, the space and the pre-existing kitchen are all in line with our business model. We look forward to serving our signature food and drinks shortly."
