Tropical Smoothie Cafe raises $1M for charity

The fast casual cafe concept raised $1 million for Camp Sunshine, with a significant increase from last year’s giving total.

Camp Sunshine truly owes a lot to Tropical Smoothie Cafe, according to a recent press release. The fast casual concept announced that it had raised a record-breaking $1 million for Camp Sunshine, while collecting $400,000 more than the previous year on its National Flip Flop Day on June 3.

"Tropical Smoothie Cafe is devoted to ensuring that Camp Sunshine thrives so it can continue to be a lifeline for children with life threatening illnesses, as well as their families who whole heartedly care for and love them," Tropical Smoothie Cafe CEO Mike Rotondo said. "With support from our franchisees, guests, and the residents of New York City, we were able to hit our $1 million mark and are thrilled to know what a huge impact this will have for everyone at Camp Sunshine."

Camp Sunshine is an emotional and medical retreat center that provides support for children and their families during life threatening illnesses.
