Tropical Smoothie Café launches Healthy Lifestyle promo

January 3, 2010

Tropical Smoothie Café plans to help consumers meet their health goals for the New Year with a "Healthy Lifestyle" promotion, featuring low-calorie grilled flatbreads and smoothies, free nutritional supplements and an opportunity to win an EA SPORTS Active in-home fitness package. EA SPORTS Active is the No. 1 interactive fitness product for the Wii.

The promotion will run from Jan. 4, 2010, to Feb. 28, 2010.

As part of the promotion, Tropical Smoothie Café will offer baby carrots as a healthful-option side item. The chain also has teamed with the U.S. Highbush Blueberry Council to promote the healthful benefits of blueberries and smoothies that contain the fruit.

Recognizing how the grilled flatbreads and low-calorie smoothies fit into a healthful diet, EA SPORTS has designated them as EA SPORTS Active approved menu items. Flatbreads are specially priced at $3.99 during the promotion and include the new Chicken Pesto Flatbread, made with chicken, low-fat mozzarella cheese, Parmesan tomatoes and pesto sauce.

"Our low-calorie smoothie options and grilled flatbreads are the perfect pairings to go along with a healthy lifestyle and our customers' goals to lead more active lives in the New Year," said Barbara Valentino, vice president of marketing and communications for Tropical Smoothie Café. "We are excited to partner with EA SPORTS to help customers eat better and feel better."

Customers also can enter an online contest foran opportunity to win an EA SPORTS Active in-home fitness package, including a plasma TV, gaming console, EA SPORTS Active, EA SPORTS Active More Workouts, a $200 adidas gift card, and a $250 Tropical Smoothie Café gift card.

To help customers boost their energy and immunity, burn calories and reduce stress, Tropical Smoothie Café will offer free nutrition supplements during the first five weeks of the promotion. A different supplement will be given away free each week and include Energizer, Whey or Soy Protein, Vitamin C Immune Complex, Multi-Vitamin and Stress Defense.

"We're happy to give our customers an opportunity to use these great additions to their smoothies at no cost so they can see how beneficial a supplement is as they embark on a healthier lifestyle," Valentino said.
