Muscle Maker Grill is number 44 on our list of the 2014 Fast Casual Top 100 Movers & Shakers: Restaurants.

When Muscle Maker Grill was founded in 1995, Rod Silva was already the owner of a smoothie store. Silva found that customers were just as interested in the healthy lunches he brought for himself as they were in his smoothies. Inspiration hit Silva, and Muscle Maker Grill was born with the goal of helping other “healthy eaters” have a quick and healthy alternative to fast food. After partnering with Arthur Gunther, former president of Pizza Hut, the Muscle Maker Grill concept became popular in the franchise community due to its dedication to taste, competitive pricing and convenience, Silva said.

The franchise has grown into a 64-unit chain with 20 to 25 more stores expected to open in the next year. Muscle Maker Grill now has the muscle power of 19 years in the food industry behind it. This is a concept that will only continue to grow.
