Texas pizza chain takes home $35,000 Hot Rocks oven

Hot Rocks Ovens said it awarded a $35,000 oven this spring to Alban Shahini of Brooklyn Pizza in Houston, Texas. The eight-restaurant chain is family owned and operated, according to a news release about this second annual oven giveaway. 

"This is great news and we are very excited!" Shahini said in the release. "We always wanted to try the Hot Rocks Oven. This will allow us to try it in person, test it, and adjust it to our needs."

Last year, Joe Longo of Joey's Italian Grille in Chardon, Ohio, won the oven featuring a granite stone conveyor that the company said produces a consistent crispy crust in record time without burning. Hot Rocks is a spin-off of Picard Ovens that is exclusively dedicated to pizza industry production.
