Teriyaki Madness celebrated the opening of its 100th restaurant on April 1. The milestone store is located in Katy, Texas, according to a press release.

The Denver, Colorado-based chain opened 30 locations in 2020, and 25 launched during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Additional 2020 achievements include:
● Systemwide revenue increased 48% compared to 2019.
● Same shop sales increased 18%-plus through COVID-19.
● 78% of franchisees pursued additional locations.
● 45% year-over-year increase in grand opening sales due to brand awareness.
● The corporate team grew 50% to support system growth.

"Opening our 100th shop in Katy is a real achievement for us as a brand, of course. It's extremely gratifying that we have such strong support from our customers," Michael Haith, Teriyaki Madness CEO, said in the release. "The last 12 months have been a difficult one for the industry, but we've been able to buck the trend by depending on our best-in-class technology investment and the commitment of the franchisee shop owners to the communities we serve."

The 18-year-old chain continues to accelerate its footprint this year, with 18 stores opening in January and February. It expects to open 45 to 50 shops throughout North America by year's end and add 50 franchisees to its portfolio. Looking ahead at 2022, the company, founded in 2003, expects 50%-plus growth, according to the release.

The 100th location's franchise owners, husband and wife team Sylvester and Shadia John, already run a Teriyaki Madness franchise and plan to open a third restaurant in the near future.

"The fact that we're opening the 100th Teriyaki Madness shop is thrilling to us, both as entrepreneurs and fans of this brand," Shadia John said in the release. "We wanted to be with a brand that had a lot of growth going for it, and we know we found the right partner in Teriyaki Madness."
