Tavistock acquires Freebirds World Burrito

EMERYVILLE, Calif. — Emeryville-based Tavistock Restaurants has announced the acquisition of Freebirds World Burrito, the Texas-based fresh fast-casual restaurant known for its Monster burritos.
Tavistock Restaurants purchased Freebirds World Burrito July 16, 2007. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Freebirds specializes in customized burritos and other menu items that include quesadillas, tacos and salads.Freebirds will continue to operate as an independent brand in the Tavistock portfolio.
"The strength of this concept can be gauged by the fanatical loyalty of the Freebirds' customers," said Barry Goff, CEO of Tavistock Restaurants. "A goal of Tavistock Restaurants is to expand the brand both inside and out of the state."
Tavistock Restaurants portfolio includes: Freebirds World Burrito;Blackhawk Grille; Cafe del Rey; California Cafe; Napa Valley Grille; Alcatraz Brewing Company; Zed 451; and Horizons.
