Starbucks is advising employees on how to respond to potential customer interaction regarding former CEO and chairman Howard Schultz’s latest book and his potential presidential run.
In its Jan. 21 weekly memo, sent to managers and employees, the coffee chain offers advice on how to handle political opinion-sharing by customers and "diffuse [sic]" possible confrontations regarding Schultz’s political aspirations, according to a Huffington Post report.
"We respect everyone's opinion. Our goal is simply to create a warm and welcoming space where we can all gather, as a community, over great coffee," states the memo.
And when it comes to whether Schultz will run for president the suggested response is "Howard'’s future plans are up to him."
