We've all heard about instant coffee, but Starbucks is building an "instant coffee shop" in Chicago, according to the Chicago Tribune. Last week, a crew began constructing a Starbucks unit in Rogers Park made of recycled shipping containers at the southwest corner of Broadway and Devon Avenue.
When opened, it will be the chain's first "modern modular" store in Chicago, and sixth in the U.S. The structures are built offsite and assembled on lots.
The 700-square-foot, drive-thru and walk-up store, which has no indoor seating, should open in late September. Up to five baristas will be on staff.
