January 15, 2008

LIVERPOOL, England — Starbucks Coffee Company (U.K.) Ltd. has entered an agreement with The Beatles Story to open a 2,500-square-foot location inside The Beatles Story visitor attraction.

Under the licensing agreement, the store will be staffed and managed by Beatles Story employees.

"WithPaul McCartneyalready signed to theStarbucks record label, this feels like a natural place for us to be. We always look to ensure that our stores reflect their surroundings, which makes the theming of this store really exciting as it is designed to reflect the legendary Beatles era," said Rupert Lawrie, director of business alliances, Starbucks Coffee Company (U.K.) Ltd.

Starbucks introduced licensing to the United Kingdom in 2005, which has enabled the company to open in locations such as hotels, transport hubs, business centers and universities. Such partnerships have run successfully in the United States since 1996 with more 3,800 Starbucks licensed stores currently in operation, according to a news release.
