July 30, 2008
SAN JOSE, Calif. — Northern Calif.-based fast casual, Sonoma Chicken Coop, has announced that it has closed a multiunit franchise deal in northern New Jersey. Franchisees Gary Vega and Bill Cook, who currently own four Fuddruckers and one Red Robin, plan to open the first of three new restaurants by early 2009.
Sonoma Chicken Coop was founded in 2002 by Jeff Starbeck, Bob and Bonnie Ray and MacKenzie Davis in downtown San Jose. Its name originated from the California wine region as well as their signature rotisserie chicken menu items. Since the first store opened more than five years ago, Sonoma Chicken Coop restaurants have had unit volumes of more than $4.5 million per store, according to a news release.
Sonoma Chicken Coop's menu includes pizza, pasta, entrée salads, sandwiches, ribs, fish and rotisserie chicken. All of the restaurants also feature a full bar.
