Smoke's Poutinerie does Thanksgiving Canadian-style
Smoke's Pourtinerie may have very Canadian roots, but it shares a continent with the U.S., so why not share the American holiday of Thanksgiving, too? That's the idea behind the return of the chain's rendition of the horn of plenty in box form — known as Thanksgiving-in-a-box.
And like all things related to the brand, the LTO takes this most American holiday and gives it a touch of Canada, a news release said. The box includes not only turkey, stuffing, peas and cranberries, but also the chain's traditional poutine of fries, cheese curds and hot gravy.
For the next month or so, the brand is also giving Turkey Day diners a chance to wash all of that down with cranberry Sprite.
The LTO is available from now through Nov. 27 at U.S. locations of the Ontario-based chain.
"Our instructions from Smoke are very clear and the Poutine-mastermind has given us all the ingredients to create the greatest Thanksgiving meal of all-time," CEO Ryan Smolkin said in the release. "Can’t do family dinner this year? We want all poutine lovers to satisfy their cravings for a homemade turkey dinner and have everyone loosening their belt a few notches with fully satisfied stomachs."
The 8-year-old brand started franchising state-side in 2014, and riffs off 1980s-era Canadian themes of lumberjack plaid and glam rock. The brand now has 50 stores open or under development in the U.S., and more than 150 in Canada. Stores offer more than 30 varieties of poutine.
