Valley Meat Co. announced Aug. 5 a Class I recall of 1 million pounds of beef, potentially contaminated by E. coli, including a line of frozen burgers marketed under a “smashburger” label. The recalled product is in no way related to any Smashburger restaurants or its products, according to a company release.
Smashburger’s Certified Angus Beef is sourced from Detroit-based Wolverine Packing and works closely with Wolverine to ensure that the most rigorous safety and quality standards are met, according to the company.
