Smashburger is ready to expand further into Canada under the leadership of a new director of franchise sales, Audra Wosik.
Smashburger entered the Canadian market last year with the opening of two restaurants in Calgary. The better burger chain has a competitive growth plan, opening restaurants in Edmonton, British Columbia, Ontario and Quebec between now and the end of 2014, said David Prokupek, chairman and CEO of Smashburger.
"Canada is an important growth market for us. Canadians understand what better burgers are all about and appreciate how Smashburger has defined this segment with our fresh, never frozen beef patties, our premium toppings are our ability to customize a menu based on regional locations," he said. "We have lots of demand for our burgers in Canada. That is why we brought Audra Wosik on board. Her experience in the franchise industry will help us identify the right partners and develop markets designed to fuel our growth here."
Wosik brings more than 20 years of experience in the franchise industry and a solid understanding of operations, marketing, real estate and sales, said Prokupek.
"Smashburger is a dynamic company that offers its customers a diverse menu, local ingredients and stellar customer service," Wosik said. "I look forward to working with franchisees and introducing this award-winning concept into new Canadian markets."
Prior to joining Smashburger, Wosik worked as director of franchise operations for Regis Corporations, where she oversaw day-to-day franchise operations for all of Canada. Most recently, she worked at CARA Operations as Manager of Franchising and Development.
