Simpson joins Firehouse Subs as communications coordinator

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Firehouse Subs has announced that it has hired Melissa Simpson as its communications coordinator. She assists the department in managing internal and external communications and offers public relations support to more than 300 restaurants and 150 franchisees.
As part of her new role, she manages the relationship with the PR team at Erwin-Penland, the company's national marketing, advertising and public relations partner based in Greenville, S.C. This includes overseeing approval and distribution of news releases and coordinating media relations activities.
Prior to Firehouse Subs, Simpson served as communications coordinator for Lutheran Social Services of Northeast Florida, where she was responsible for all aspects of agency communications, including print design and production, Web site management, agency branding, media relations and support materials for special events. During her time at Flagler College in St. Augustine, Fla., Simpson served as general partner for the school's first student-run PR agency, The Dow Advantage Public Relations Group.
