S&D Coffee & Tea launches ready-to-serve cold-brew coffee option for restaurants

April 8, 2019

To help restaurants compete in the growing cold brew coffee market, S&D Coffee & Tea, has launched a line of Cold Brew Coffee — flavored and ready to serve.  The line is available in a bag-in-box format to provide a turnkey solution for operators looking to satisfy demand without the added labor or costs often associated with cold brew coffee, according to a company press release.

Since consumers believe that the cold brewing process enhances the taste and quality of the coffee, nearly 90% were willing to pay a premium price, according to Datassential's How Do You Cold Brew study. It also found that also over 50% of consumers would pay 50 cents or more for cold brew coffee than they would for a traditional iced coffee.

The Ready-to-Serve Cold Brew Coffee is available in five flavors, including:

  • Black & Bold.
  • Café au Lait—modern, French-style cold brew coffee blended with low-fat milk and sweetened with a hint of pure cane sugar.
  • Salted Caramel—caramel-flavored 100% cold-brew Arabica coffee, finished with sea salt.
  • Horchata— Hispanic-style spiced blend of 100% cold-brew Arabica coffee flavored with cinnamon, a hint of mocha and milk.
  • Café a La Mode—a contemporary blend of cold-brew espresso extract, French vanilla, rich mocha and Grade A whole milk.

While 44% of cold brew drinkers said "cold brew is flavorful enough to be enjoyed pure black," Datassential found that only one in 10 people actually drink it black, which means there is an opportunity to attract new business with a variety of flavored cold brew coffees, according to the release.
