Salsarita's debuts new dessert

August 21, 2013

Salsarita's debuts a new dessert today called Poquitos, Salsarita's take on the traditional Mexican favorite churro. Realizing the lack of variety offered on the dessert menu in most fast casual Mexican restaurants, Salsarita's is bringing the alternative to its customers, said Salsarita's CEO Phil Friedman.

Translated loosely, the term "poquito" means "little," but these bite-size treats boast big flavor in every bite, he said. Small bites of dough rolled in cinnamon and sugar, Poquitos are served hot and offer the perfect ending to a tasty meal.

"Poquitos satisfy your need for just a little something sweet after enjoying the bold flavors that Salsarita's has to offer," Friedman said. "The new item was developed using authentically inspired flavors from Mexico, but with a Salsarita's spin."

Poquitos will come in packs of three or a baker's dozen and will also be available on the catering menu.

The growing franchise has more than 80 locations in 19 states, including seven that are company-owned. Salsarita's expects to have four-to-six franchise agreements signed before the end of 2013, with long-range projections calling for over 300 locations nationwide over the next several years.
