Restaurants to miss July 1 calorie deadline
June 19, 2007
MSNBC: Fast food restaurants in New York are getting a temporary reprieve from a precedent-setting rule requiring them to put calorie information on their menus.
The new regulation, requiring about 2,000 city eateries to post calorie counts on their menu boards, was on track to take effect on July 1, but it was challenged in court last week by the New York State Restaurant Association.
McDonald's and Burger King representatives have said they will not meet the July 1 deadline and Wendy's earlier this year removed nutritional information on display in their restaurants to avoid having to post the data.
