Forbes: A Stifel Nicolaus & Co. analyst predicts that quick-service operators Peet's Coffee & Tea Inc., Dunkin' Donuts and McDonald's Corp. will likely continue to take customers away from specialty coffee retailers as consumers search for more affordable options.
As more consumers begin brewing their coffee at home, Peet's and Dunkin' Donuts grocery sales will lilkely benefit, with grocery sales growing for both companies in February while Starbucks Corp. reported a "significant decline" in year-over-year sales for the month, analyst Steve West said.
