Qdoba Mexican Grill honored five suppliers this month for outstanding performance in six awards categories at its 2014 Qdoba Leadership Summit in Denver. More than 400 people attended the two-day event, including leadership teams from Qdoba and parent company Jack in the Box Inc., as well as suppliers and franchisees, according to a company press release.
"We commend our supplier community for partnering with us and aligning their businesses to support our strategic initiatives," said Vice President of Supply Chain Dean Gordon, who oversees the supply chains for both Qdoba and the Jack in the Box brands. "Our suppliers have invested an incredible amount of time and resources to understand our business needs and to develop creative solutions to help us manage commodity costs and meet the high performance standards we've set for our Qdoba restaurants. Our awards program annually honors the best of the best — those companies that have demonstrated outstanding leadership, innovation and commitment."
Tyson Foods of Springdale, Ark., was named Qdoba's Supplier of the Year for collaborating with Qdoba's menu development, R&D and supply chain teams on areas related to continuous improvement, product ideation, product optimization and cost management, according to the release. Tyson also earned the Food Safety Sustained Performance Award for its support of Qdoba's food-safety programs and leadership in overall food safety.
