August 7, 2006
SAN DIEGO — Jack in the Box Inc. reported positive results for its fiscal third quarter ended July 9, 2006.
According to a news release, same-store sales at Jack in the Box company restaurants rose 2.9 percent for the period versus a 2.8 percent increase in last year's quarter. Same-store sales at the company's Qdoba Mexican Grill rose 6 percent for the period, compared to a 10.3 percent increase last year.
Third-quarter net income rose to $27.8 million from $23.9 million last year, while revenue increased to $649 million versus $589.3 million last year.
"Qdoba continues to perform well and now has 28 consecutive quarters — or seven years — of comparable sales growth," said Linda A. Lang, chairman and chief executive officer. "I'd like to congratulate Qdoba's CEO and president Gary Beisler and his team on two major accomplishments: In July, Qdoba celebrated the opening of its 300th location, in Bloomington, Ind., and Nation's Restaurant News selected Gary as one of only six 2006 Golden Chain award winners."
