Dallas-based Dickey's Barbecue Restaurants Inc. has announced the launch of its new Barbecue, Boots & Badges foundation.

The foundation will provide funding and resources to law enforcement, firefighters and their families.

"We take pride in the communities we serve and saw a vital need for a foundation to support local law enforcement, firefighters and their families," said Roland Dickey, Jr., president and CEO of Dickey's Barbecue Restaurants Inc. in a company press release "These are the people who put their lives on the line every day, we created a foundation to help those who serve us."

Initial funding for Barbecue, Boots and Badges will come from the national launch of Dickey's new line of potato chips on March 1. A portion of all proceeds will benefit the foundation.

"After 8 years as a Dallas County Commissioner, I saw firsthand the challenges our law enforcement officials' face in the line of duty," said Maurine Dickey, chairman of Barbecue, Boots & Badges, in the release. "Dickey's Barbecue takes a personal approach to the communities we serve and there is no better place to start than with law enforcement officials and their families."
