Port City Java makes top new franchise list

WILMINGTON, N.C. —Entrepreneur magazine has listed Port City Java in the Top 50 New Franchises for the second consecutive year, the company has announced. Port City Java is the only coffeehouse/café concept to have made the list. The company moved up the Top New Ranking eight spots from No. 39 in 2007 to No. 31 in 2008.
Port City Java began roasting and serving gourmet coffee and espresso in 1995. The menu features a variety of all-day items that include premium coffees, fresh baked goods, breakfast sandwiches, handmade shakes, freezes and more. The company also offers its trademark Fairganic coffees, which are USDA Organic and Fair Trade Certified.
January sales
Overall corporate café sales at Port City Java increased 16 percent and same-store corporate café sales increased 2.6 percent for January.
