Pollo Tropical, a Caribbean-inspired fast casual restaurant, hopes it can help guests succeed with healthy eating New Year's resolutions with its new "21 Days to a New You" meal plan.
The 21-day plan gives guests three weeks of daily lunch and dinner menu ideas, including Pollo Tropical favorites, such as its signature grilled chicken, roast pork, soups, wraps, salads, sandwiches and a variety of made-from-scratch side dishes with total calories ranging from 800 to just more than 1,000 for both lunch and dinner combined, according to a company press release. The plan, developed by Pollo Tropical chefs in collaboration with registered dietician Joanne "Dr. Jo" Lichten, Ph.D., also offers ideas for healthy breakfasts and snacks, plus tips for general healthy eating, stress management and exercise.
"Like Dr. Jo, we don't think a healthy lifestyle should include doing without — we think it's about smart choices, great flavors and fresh ingredients that are found every day at Pollo Tropical," said Pollo Tropical Director of Marketing Sandra Pascual. "Our guests know they can always find healthy, delicious options at Pollo Tropical that they can feel great about eating."
Guests who sign up for the plan will receive a free, small Create Your Own TropiChop bowl to get them started. The dish, which starts at just 345 calories for the vegetarian option and 480 calories with grilled chicken, lets guests pick from a wide variety of fresh ingredients.
Pollo Tropical also has added a new nutritional calculator to its website with accurate calorie counts, so customers can continue to track and customize their meals for a healthier lifestyle beyond the 21-day meal plan. The calculator can be found at www.pollotropical.com/nutritionals.
