Pokeworks, Pokeatery bringing poke to the masses
Proving that poke is here to stay, two poke-centered fast casual brands founded in 2015 — Pokeatery and Pokeworks — announced this week plans for expansion.
Based in California's Bay Area, Pokeatery is making a leap to the East Coast, opening next year in Charlotte, North Carolina, while Pokeworks — based in Manhattan, New York — is planning to bring more than 100 franchise locations to markets across the country over the next two years, according to company press releases.
Pokeatery, which has partnered with Fransmart, is searching for experienced multi-unit foodservice operators to develop franchise territories in major markets.
"Our commitment to providing a healthier alternative to traditional fast food, coupled with the ability to meet demands for a reduced carbon footprint and naturally sustainable food, places us in a prime position for future growth," Kevin Hsu, co-founder of Pokéworks, said in a company press release. "As our brand continues to develop, we are dedicated to seeking passionate franchise partners to elevate the Pokeworks concept, while providing customers with a fresh take on Hawaiian-inspired poké."
Pokéworks has 20 locations open across the United States and Canada and is seeking experienced multi-unit franchisees in Texas, Florida and California, among other states, according to the release.
