Panera April sales up 2.8%

ST. LOUIS — Panera Bread Co.'s reported an increase of 2.8 percent for system-wide same-store sales for the four weeks ended April 25.
Same-store sales at company-owned locations increased 3.1 percent in the period, while franchised stores had a 2.7 percent increase. According to a news release, the shift in the Easter holiday from the March period last year to the April period in 2006 negatively impacted same-store sales for the April 2006 period by about 1.5 percent to 2 percent, based on past holiday results.
