Panda Express receives best people practices award

ROSEMEAD, Calif. —Panda Express has announced it is the 2007 winner of the Best People Practices Award given by People Report, a provider of human resource metrics for the foodservice industry.The award recognizes excellence in people practices, highlighting achievements in management retention, associate retention and diversity. Panda Express leads the segment for limited service/fast casual/family dining.
 
More than 17,000 associates work for Panda Express. Management turnover has dropped below 20 percent as positions filled by promotions increased last year by 12 percent among general managers and 22 percent among assistant managers.Diversity in the work force also was an important element of the Best People Practices Award. Sixty percent of the associates at Panda Express are women, 43 percent are Asian and 35 percent are Hispanic. In all, more than 90 percent of the company's associates are minorities.
 
Earlier this year, Panda Express was ranked among the top 10 best places to work (large companies segment) by the Los Angeles Business Journal.
