Original SoupMan announces Fisherman’s Wharf opening

March 1, 2011

Original SoupMan has announced a new venture with Lloyd Sugarman and Matt Johnson to open the company’s first West Coast restaurant at Fisherman’s Wharf in San Francisco. This expansion represents an important milestone for Original SoupMan’s continued nationwide restaurant expansion and growth.

Lloyd Sugarman currently owns and operates the Original SoupMan’s location at the Mohegan Sun Casino in Connecticut, a highly-successful location that experienced 38 percent growth in Q4 2010.

Former Governor of the Fisherman’s Wharf Merchant’s Association, Sugarman also owns 15 Johnny Rockets restaurants across the country. As the company’s co-founder, he also led its explosive growth from a single store in 1987 in Beverly Hills, Calif., to more than 300 restaurants today.

Matt Johnson, Sugarman’s SoupMan restaurant partner and partner in the San Francisco Johnny Rockets, currently resides in Marin County.

“Propelled by the success of our Mohegan Sun location, I’m ecstatic to bring The Original SoupMan to Fisherman’s Wharf,” Sugarman said. “Given our sea-food heritage – our bisque is known around the world – Fisherman’s Wharf is someplace we belong.”

The Original SoupMan at Fisherman’s Wharf will offer soups such as Jambalaya, Lobster Bisque, Crab Bisque, Mulligatawny and Chicken Vegetable. Additionally, it will offer a deli menu comprised of its signature New York-inspired gourmet sandwiches such as the Penn Station Sub, Thanksgiving Day Feast and the 42nd Street Reuben.
