Oracle tech aims to help restaurants, food trucks boost agility, reliability

Oracle's new Micros Workstation 625 and 655 POS systems aim to help eateries and food trucks speed up the ordering process and reduce customer wait times.

The technologies, according to a press release, will also provide needed flexibility to field pop-up experiences and features focused on providing efficiency and self-service capabilities.

For example, the systems feature a non-glare screen for improved performance in bright locations; a larger screen for more expedient, error-free order entry; simplified employee sign-in for improved management and reporting; tamper detection for greater physical security; and reduced power requirements for longer device lifetime, according to the release.

"Successful restaurant businesses live in constant motion and are always poised for change," Simon de Montfort Walker, senior vice president and general manager for Oracle Food and Beverage, said in the release

Oracle also has announced the latest release of the Oracle MICROS Simphony point-of-sale, which supports the Oracle Linux for MICROS workstations aimed at the small and growing restaurant and food truck operator.

They feature fast configuration and include advanced security features like disabling unused input/output ports, and run on battery for additional flexibility.

"The technology solutions we deliver are as diverse as the customers we serve. Although there are common challenges and needs that thread through each restaurant environment, every brand is unique and therefore we design solutions to support current and future aspirations," said Walker, in the release.

New York Burger has deployed the system in a quest to gain efficiencies.
