Olo Dispatch covers nation, half of US population

September 14, 2016

Digital ordering service provider Olo has announced that its year-old Dispatch delivery service now covers all of the U.S. and half of the nation's population, according to a press release.

The service allows customers to visit restaurants’ existing digital ordering websites or mobile apps to build their orders and pay ahead of delivery, which the diner selects as an option at checkout. Customers get the best-matched quote from all available delivery service providers using Dispatch when they check out, according to a news release. They can then track orders as they progress through delivery, all from the original restaurant brand’s existing website or app.

Dispatch uses a national delivery service provider network that includes Postmates, UberRush, DeliverLogic, and Favor, among others, to cover half of the current U.S. population in 60 major metro areas. Olo now is working with more than 160 brands nationwide.

This newest service expands the existing digital ordering program for these brands, so that they can now offer delivery to more consumers regardless of location. According to an Olo news release, a number of multiplication restaurants are rolling out Dispatch, including Which Wich, Noodles & Company, Taylor Gourmet, Lyfe Kitchen, Planet Sub, Fields Good Chicken, Busboys and Poets, and Verts Mediterranean Grill.

"Today’s consumer is demanding fast and transparent food delivery, but scaling restaurant delivery is challenging for large restaurant brands," Olo founder and CEO Noah Glass said in a news release. "Dispatch’s technology tackles these challenges head-on by integrating a vast network of delivery providers to better coordinate and synchronize food orders from point A to point B. The outcome for restaurants, couriers, and consumers is a heightened level of control, integration, and scale that up until now did not exist."

The service was launched last year, according to a news release, but now the average delivery time after order hand-off has improved to under 12 minutes today. Which Wich Vice President of Information Technology, Jon Hartis said the service was easy for his brand to put in use and they are seeing good results.

"Dispatch delivery order values at Which Wich are double those of digital takeout orders — $16 for digital pickup orders to over $30 for Dispatch orders, excluding fees," he said.
