New World's 2005 revenue increases 4.1%

GOLDEN, Colo.—New World Restaurant Group Inc. announced improved financial results for its 2005 fourth quarter and fiscal year ended Jan. 3, 2006.
Revenue in 2005, which included one additional week of sales compared with 2004, increased 4.1 percent to $389.1 million versus $373.9 million in 2004. Retail comparable-store sales increased 5.2 percent for the year as a result of a 5.4-percent increase in average check partially offset by a 0.2 percent decrease in transactions. The company achieved 12 consecutive months of comparable store sales growth in 2005. When calculated on a comparative 53-week basis for both fiscal 2005 and 2004, company-operated retail sales increased 2.4 percent.
