McAlister's Deli has announced a same-store sales increase of 6.4 percent during the second quarter of 2013. This marks the 12th straight quarter of positive sales growth. Comp sales were driven primarily by an increase in entrée sales, indicating overall traffic gains for McAlister's restaurants system-wide, said McAlister's President and CEO Frank Paci.
"We continue to have a very positive response from guests to our new and limited-time menu items including our pulled pork sandwich, nachos and spud, as well as our Pecanberry salad," he said.
McAlister's has also opened six restaurants year to date and expects to open 15 restaurants this year.
McAlister's has undertaken initiatives to strengthen its brand, including upgrading menu offerings and improving speed of service. Technomic recently recognized the brand as the top chain in the fast casual industry for food and beverage and as one of consumers' Top 5 Favorite Chains in the country. Fast Casual also ranked the brand No. 2 on its Top 100 "Movers and Shakers" list of 2013, and Paci was named one of the "Top 20 People" in the industry to watch.
