McAlister's Corp. to help with tornado assistance

May 2, 2011

McAlister’s Corporation has announced a special fundraising effort to offer assistance in the aftermath of the deadly tornadoes that recently struck the Southeast. McAlister’s Corporation, franchisor of McAlister’s Deli, owns and operates several restaurants in the areas hardest hit by last week’s storms, including the Tuscaloosa and Huntsville, Ala., areas.

From May 6-8 in the 34 McAlister’s corporate-owned restaurants in Georgia, Alabama, Louisiana and Mississippi, McAlister’s will donate 50 cents from the sale of each of their baked cookies to tornado relief efforts. The company will use the funds raised to assist team members impacted by the storms with their personal needs as well as using the funds for needs related to the rebuilding efforts in the affected communities.

“McAlister’s has many team members in the devastated areas that will need assistance trying to get back to their normal lives and we want to be able to help them with this in every way that we can,” said Annica Kreider, vice president of marketing for McAlister’s Corporation. “We hope that this weekend-long event will raise not only funds, but awareness for the great need in the area.”

Employees from the company’s support center in Ridgeland, Miss., are being deployed to the Alabama area to assess local employee and community needs.

“We know that the community at large will have needs for food donations for relief workers and volunteers for a long time to come, and we want to continue to be a part of this rebuilding effort,” Kreider said. “It is a top priority to our executive team that our team members and communities in the affected areas know that we are here to support them through this terrible disaster.”
