In support of April 11 as "Massachusetts Restaurant Day for No Kid Hungry," Gov. Charlie Baker issued a citation in recognition of the efforts of the restaurant community and its work to benefit this cause, according to a press release from the Massachusetts Restaurant Association. Five restaurants across Massachusetts — Tremont 647, One Eleven Chop House, The Quarterdeck, Cobblestones of Lowell, and East Bay Grille — will unite Monday to create a dining experience and work in collaboration to help benefit No Kid Hungry's nutrition education programming in Massachusetts.
"The Massachusetts Restaurant Association is very proud of our five Board Members and their staffs who have stepped forward to make a difference in making certain children are well nourished," said Bob Luz, president of the Massachusetts Restaurant Association. " We believe this can grow year by year across the entire state from Newburyport to Provincetown, Boston to Pittsfield and everywhere in between."
No Kid Hungry works to end childhood hunger by ensuring that kids start the day with a nutritious breakfast and families learn the skills they need to shop and cook on a budget. No Kid Hungry is a campaign of national anti-hunger organization Share Our Strength.
"Share Our Strength is incredibly proud to partner with the MRA and each participating restaurant on April 11," said Emily Ryan, associate director of Share Our Strength. "We are grateful to Chef Andy Husbands for his dedication and leadership over the years for ending childhood hunger. We are continually humbled by the generosity of the culinary community and look forward to continuing to work together for this important cause."
